The original medal was awarded to Adolph when he won the 100m backstroke at the Berlin Olympic Games. During the ensuing years, the medal was stolen and never recovered. In the 1990's, the International Olympic Committee granted permission to reproduce the medal in its original form and presented it to Adolph. He was at the ISHOF to receive the YMCA Lifetime Achievement Award presented during the YMCA Swimming and Diving National Championships on April 6, 2009. This year, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America has joined ISHOF in passing the Baton from Coach David Marsh (2007 winning team and coach) to Coach Frank Busch (2008 winning team and coach) for both men and women. The pass was made at the 2009 NCAA National Swimming and Diving Championships at Texas A&M in College Station at the final evening of competition before the new champions are crowned. The coaches receiving the Baton next year as the 2009 champions are Coach Terry McKeever of California for the women and Richard Quick of Auburn for the men. Last month, = ISHOF Board member Emeritus Mark Spitz and CEO Bruce Wigo = were active on the south Florida lecture circuit. Mark was the keynote spea= ker for the Jewish Federation of Broward County's Men's Night out, here in = Fort Lauderdale, while  Bruce was the keynote speaker at the annual me= eting of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, at Miami's Deauville Ho= tel.

ISHOF Hosts Water Show
3D"adakok"On Thursday, April 2, ISHOF hosted over 1,200 Inter= national Travel Agents as part of a promotion for Royal Caribbean Cruise Li= nes' new "Oasis of the Seas," which is 3D"royalcaribbean"set for its = maiden voyage in early December.   
As part of the event, Royal Car= ibbean, in collaboration with Watershow Productions and Choozie Entertainme= nt, put on a spectacular water show featuring Olympic diving, comedy diving= , synchronized swimming and trampolining.  More ...<= /div>

O= n Sunday, April 5, Dara Torres launched her new book, Age is Just a Number,= at ISHOF. Before the signing at the ISHOF Museum, Dara spoke to a crowd of= over 1,500 parents, coaches and athletes in town for the YMCA National Cha= mpionships.  Her brief talk was followed by a book signing that lasted= until almost 9 PM.  3D"daraThe event was covered by NBC. A one of a kind photo exhibit featuring the art o= f some of the world's greatest photographers will go on exhibit at ISHOF be= ginning May 8 3D"miralle"and will run through the end of September. Featured photographe= rs include, Heinz Kluetmeier, Donald Miralle, Al Bello, Bruce Webbe= r, Peter Bick, Bruce Webber and George Shelly.  Heinz Kluetme= ier who is credited with 3D"kluetmeier"over 100 covers of sports illustrated and most = recently captured Michael Pehlp's touch win in the 100 butterfly from under= water - the iconic photo of the Beijing Games - will receive the 2009 Al Sh= oenfeld Media Award at ISHOF's annual induction dinner on Saturday, Septemb= er 12, in Fort Lauderdale. 


New Aquisitions # 3: Kiefer's 1936 Olympic Gold Medal<= /b>

Adolph's 1936 Olympic Gold Medal has been placed on d= isplay next to his exhibit at the entrance way to the Hall of Fame. The ori= ginal medal was awarded to Adolph when he won the 100m backstroke at the Be= rlin Olympic Games. During the ensuing years, the medal was stolen and neve= r recovered. In the 1990's, the International Olympic Committee granted per= mission to reproduce the medal in its original form and presented it to Ado= lph.  He was at the ISHOF to receive the YMCA Lifetime Achievement Awa= rd presented during the YMCA Swimming and Diving National Championships on = April 6, 2009. ISHOF Joins with CSCAA to prsents the Baton of Victory

Originated by Ruth and Ray Bussard of Tennessee, the Baton of Vi= ctory, permanently  housed in the ISHOF, is presented to each winning = coach of the NCAA National Championship Team and passed each year from one = winning coach to another, for both men's and women's teams. This year, the = College Swimming Coaches Association 3D"adakok"of America has joined ISHOF in passing th= e Baton from Coach David Marsh (2007 winning team and coach) to Coach Frank Busch (2008 winning team and coach) for both men and wome= n. The pass was made at the 2009 NCAA National Swimming and Diving Champion= ships at Texas A&M in College Station at the final evening of competition b= efore the new 3D"adakok"champions are crowned. The coaches receiving the Baton next yea= r as the 2009 champions are Coach Terry McKeever of California for the wome= n and Richard Quick of Auburn for the men. During his coll= ege coaching career at Texas, Stanford and Auburn, Quick has won an unprece= dented 13 National Championships; more than any other college coach. <= /img>

3D"greglouganis"Four of five GREG LOUGANIS OLYMPI= C MEDALS have been placed on display at ISHOF. Greg won back-to-ba= ck Olympic gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games in both springboa= rd and platform diving as well as the silver medal in platform at the 1976 = Olympics. He gave one of his gold medals to Ryan White, a boy who had contr= acted AIDS who Greg befriended. On loan by Greg.
