200 Swimmers in 2nd St. Lucia ASA Development Meet
With almost 200 swimmers participating from all swim clubs in
St Lucia the Saint Lucia Amateur Swimming Association (SLASA)
hosted a very successful 2nd Development Meet for 2013 at the
Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre on February 3rd, 2013.
The AA Challenge meet is designed to encourage all swimmers to
swim for best times in all strokes and is continuation of a series
of development meets designed to encourage swimmers to compete on a
regular basis and to allow swimmers to achieve motivational
“AAAA”, “AAA”, “AA”,
“A”, “BB” and “B” times.
The meet saw 5 Age group records broken with Ethan
“Speedy” Dyke Elliott (CJ’s Swim Club) copping
two records, Jenna Lee Campbell (Lightning Aquatics)
and Janil Preville (Racers) and Terrell Monplaisir (CJ’s)
picking up one each.
The records were
Female 8 & Under 50 Breast
Jenna-lee Campbell with time of 50.60
Female 9-10 50 Breast
Janil Preville with time of 40.72
Male 9-10 200 Free
Ethan Dyke-Elliott with time of 2:35.90
Male 9-10 200 Breast
Terell Monplaisir with time of 3:24.99
Male 9-10 200 Fly
Ethan Dyke-Elliott with time of 3:03.74
The meet had the junior swimmers (8 and under, 9-10) competing
in the early afternoon session and the older swimmers in the later
afternoon. With almost 200 swimmers there was again excellent
turnout of parents, coaches and supporters and technical support
from SLASA and club officials. Tech VP of SLASA, David Peterkin was
kept busy all day coordinating to insure a well run meet.
The meet was the final official time for swimmers to
make the CARIFTA qualifying time for that event slated for Jamaica
30th March to 4th April
